
Sensei J. Balaji started his Karate Training at the age of 12 under Sensei C. Mariappan, 6th Dan in Chennai, India. He adopted the style of Goju-Ryu and trained under him till 2007. He got the introduction of Jundokan UK Chief Instructor Sensei Bob Honiball, 7th Dan, when studying his MBA in London and trained under him. Bob Honiball took Balaji to Jundokan in Okinawa, Japan on Oct 2006, which gave Balaji the confidence to start his own dojo in the name of JN Jundokan India in Chennai, India. At present, Balaji is a qualified Sandan (3rd Dan), Jundokan, UK and affiliated in the same.
Under his belt, Sensei J. Balaji has the following credentials:
- Has trained more than 150 students throughout Chennai.
- Graded Sandan Jundokan UK by Bob Honiball on December 2006 in UK.
- Trained under World Chief of Jundokan, Kancho Yoshihiro Miyazato during October 2006 and November 2008 in Okinawa, Japan.
- Organised Invitational Karate Tournament (India, Sri Lanka & Nepal) on December 30-31, 2006 in JJ Basket Ball Indoor Stadium, Kilpauk, Chennai.
- Participated in the 8th Skif Shotokan World Cup Karate Championship and was graded 2nd Dan by Jesse Modley who is a student of Gogan Yamakuchi in September 2003, Durban, South Africa.
